BS2 Stainless Steel Double Plate Glass Railing Post
The SSHW BS2 stainless steel double plate glass railing post is a structural balustrade post built from two parallel stainless steel plates. Its standard height is 1050 mm, it accepts a 50.8 mm handrail tube, and it is made in SUS304 or SUS316L with a satin finish. Within a glass railing system it holds the glass, supports the handrail and transfers load to the substrate.
The post can be fitted with T-series spider fittings or B-series glass clamps. It suits balconies, staircases, mall voids and outdoor terraces, from dry interiors to humid tropical, hot desert and coastal salt-spray climates. SSHW supplies it as a factory wholesale and custom OEM product.

Why Choose the SSHW Double Plate Glass Railing Post? Core Engineering Advantages
1. Corrosion resistance you can specify by grade
The BS2 double plate post is available in SUS304 (18Cr-8Ni) and SUS316L. Grade 304 performs well indoors and in dry inland districts. Grade 316L adds molybdenum, which improves resistance to chloride pitting, so it is the sensible choice for beachfront balconies, pool decks and high-humidity sites. For extreme exposure, Duplex 2205 can be evaluated and is confirmed per project.
2. A twin-plate structure with a clear load path
Two parallel plates are welded to a base plate to form one rigid unit. The catalog drawing shows 8 mm plate thickness and 40 mm plate spacing, subject to the final DWG. Because the plates are stiff in the direction of the horizontal load, a double plate balustrade post resists glass and handrail thrust more predictably than a thin single tube. Ultimate load data is available upon request.
3. Precision manufacturing
Plates are laser cut and CNC formed, and welds are dressed to a clean finish. Spider fittings can be produced by precision investment casting and finished on CNC machines, so hole positions, mounting faces and tolerances stay consistent from batch to batch. That consistency matters when a project needs hundreds of identical posts.
4. Standardized geometry for fast installation
The standard post is 1050 mm high, with fixing points 600 mm apart and the lower fixing 230 mm above the base. Repeating dimensions make setting-out simple for site crews. The handrail connection is designed to adjust to stair pitch, which reduces on-site cutting and rework.
5. One post platform, two glass-fixing systems
Designers can choose point-fixed glass with T01(M), T05(M), T06(M), T08(M) or T10(M) spider fittings, or clamped glass with B03AP, B04AP, B08AP, B11AP or B12AP clamps. This flexibility lets one glass railing post family serve both a transparent, minimalist look and a more conventional clamped look.
6. Satin aesthetics with low visual maintenance
The standard satin finish softens reflections and hides fine scratches and fingerprints better than a mirror polish. Mirror, brushed, PVD color and matte black finishes are available on request for projects that need a specific architectural palette.
Options, Finishes and Mounting Configurations
Model codes
BS2-T05L / T05M / T05R: double plate post with T05 spider fittings. L, M and R normally describe left-end, middle (in-line) and right-end glass layouts; the final meaning follows the project layout drawing.
BS2-B04APL / B04APM / B04APR: double plate post with B04AP glass clamps, using the same L, M and R logic.
Grade Character Typical use
SUS304 General purpose, cost efficient Interiors, inland commercial, residential
SUS316L Molybdenum alloyed, chloride resistant Coastal, pool, humid and salty sites
Duplex 2205 Higher strength and corrosion resistance Extreme exposure, confirmed per project
Finishes: Satin is standard. Mirror, brushed, PVD color and matte black are available on request.
Mounting methods: The base plate is normally fixed to a concrete slab with chemical or mechanical anchors. It can also be bolted or welded to a steel structure through an embedded plate. We recommend fasteners of the same stainless grade as the post (A4 class for 316L projects), together with lock washers and nylon or EPDM glass gaskets. Anchor size, embedment depth and tightening torque are confirmed per project according to the anchor supplier's data.
Project Selection Checklist for Engineers and B2B Buyers
1. Corrosion category of the environment
Indoor bathrooms and interior stairs: SUS304 with satin finish is usually sufficient.
Outdoor commercial, no direct sea exposure: SUS304 is typical, but 316L is wise in polluted or very rainy districts.
Coastal, pool and high-salt-spray sites: Specify SUS316L or higher, use A4 fasteners, and plan routine freshwater washing.
Concrete: Check edge distance, embedment depth and anchor type.
Steel structure: Confirm embedded plates or weld conditions.
Glass: For clamped systems, 8 to 12 mm tempered or laminated glass is typical, subject to the chosen clamp. For spider systems, confirm hole diameter and edge distance with the glass processor.
Handrail tube: The standard is 50.8 mm; other diameters can be customized.
Identify the horizontal load rules in the project country. Common design references include EN 1991-1-1, ASTM E985, BS 6180 and AS 1170.1.
Post spacing, glass build-up (tempered or laminated) and handrail continuity together determine system safety.
Structural calculations and test data are available upon request and confirmed per project.

The working principle of the BS2 is straightforward. Glass load passes through the spider fittings or clamps into the two plates, then through the welds and base plate into the structure. The handrail tube at the top shares horizontal thrust between neighboring posts. For that reason we control three things closely: plate forming accuracy, weld quality and hole-position consistency.

Global Applications and Climate Adaptability
Coastal resorts with high salt spray: Airborne chlorides are the main cause of pitting. Use SUS316L with A4 fasteners, keep drain paths open and avoid standing water around the base. For background on how stainless steel resists corrosion, see Stainless steel on Wikipedia.

Tropical, rainy commercial complexes: Constant humidity favors 316L and a clean, well-drained detail that does not trap moisture or residue.
Hot Middle Eastern facades and villas: Strong UV and large day-night temperature swings do not harm stainless steel itself. Leave thermal movement gaps between glass and metal and use heat-tolerant gaskets. In dusty areas, plan regular cleaning.
High-standard residential and hotel projects in Europe and North America: Design consistency and code compliance come first. Satin and PVD finishes can match an architect's material board, and a local structural engineer should verify the railing design against the applicable code.
Installation Overview and Maintenance Guide
Installation essentials
Verify the substrate: slab edge distance and flatness, with leveling shims where needed.
Anchor the base plate. Confirm embedment depth with the anchor supplier; tightening torque is confirmed per project.
Install glass with nylon or EPDM gaskets so glass never touches steel directly. A gap of about 2 to 3 mm is typical practice, subject to the project design.
Waterproof around the base plate so water cannot reach the anchor zone.
Use stainless fasteners of the same grade to avoid galvanic corrosion.
Indoors: Wipe with a neutral cleaner and a soft cloth, following the satin grain.
Coastal and pool sites: Rinse with fresh water at least monthly, and more often in heavy salt spray.
Preventing tea staining: Tea staining is cosmetic discoloration caused by surface deposits, not structural failure. Regular cleaning, chlorine-free cleaners and prompt removal of deposits keep it under control.
Never use steel wool or hydrochloric-acid cleaners.
Q1. Perth, Australia: For a balcony a few hundred meters from the Indian Ocean, should I choose SUS304 or SUS316L for the double plate post?
For salt-laden coastal wind we recommend SUS316L, because its molybdenum content improves resistance to chloride pitting. SUS304 suits sheltered interiors or inland zones. Use 316-grade fasteners as well, wash the post regularly, and confirm the final grade against the project exposure.
Q2. Sharjah, UAE: How does the BS2 glass railing post perform in high heat, UV and dust?
Stainless steel is not affected by UV, and the satin finish reduces glare. Leave thermal movement gaps between glass and metal and use heat-tolerant gaskets. In humid coastal districts, choose 316L, and clean away dust periodically.
Q3. Miami, USA: Can the BS2 be used with laminated glass on high-wind coastal projects?
Yes, the BS2 can carry tempered or laminated glass through clamps or spider fittings. Glass build-up, wind load and code compliance are set by the project engineer. Structural data is available upon request, and we make no code-listing claims that have not been confirmed.
Q4. Marseille, France: Do you offer custom height, base plates and finishes, and what are MOQ and lead time?
The standard height is 1050 mm. Height, plate spacing, base plate and finish can be customized from your drawings. MOQ and lead time depend on quantity, grade and finish, and are confirmed per project.
Q5. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: Can I mix spider fittings and glass clamps on the same post platform?
The post platform is offered with T-series spider fittings or B-series clamps, for example BS2-T05 and BS2-B04AP. Different zones of one project can use different systems, but the hole layout must be confirmed first, so please send your drawings.
